The front door

The home care license verdict checker

Answer four questions. Get one of five verdicts: no license needed, this is your license, scope warning, wrong door — that's home health, or you cannot open yet. Every verdict prints the state's fee, the issuing agency, the timeline and the primary source — and the words "confirm before you file", because the agency decides, not this page.

About you, the owner / administrator

Free. No email, no signup. The verdict prints the rule, the fee and the source — and tells you to confirm before you file.

Terms in plain words

License vs registration

A license means the state approves you before you open and inspects (surveys) you after. A registration is a lighter filing — you are on the state's list, but the scope of what you may sell is usually narrower. Neither one is "no rules".

Scope

Scope means the list of services your license actually covers. Selling a service outside your scope — bathing on a companion-only registration is the classic — is how new agencies get shut down.

Surety bond

A bond is a third-party guarantee that you will follow the rules and handle client money honestly. You do not pay the full bond amount; you pay a yearly premium, usually a small percentage of it.

Administrator

The person the state holds responsible for the agency day to day. Many states set experience or credential requirements for this role — a common, knowable-in-advance reason applications stall.

The paperwork, in filing order

The free checkers give you the verdict and the number. The Kit gives you the working papers: your state's application packet walked through in filing order, the policies-and-procedures binder spec (what your binder must contain — never a boilerplate binder), the administrator self-audit, the insurance & bond spec sheet, the Medicaid gate map, the franchise-vs-independent 10-year worksheets, and the payroll-runway planner.
